DOLE-10 Camiguin TUPAD coordinator, an aspiring entrepreneur

GUINSILIBAN, Camiguin (PIA)--“A big business starts small,” a famous line from Richard Branson inspired Khent Bryan A. Waminal to be an aspiring entrepreneur.

Waminal, 28, is a Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced workers (TUPAD) coordinator under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO).

DOLE-10 Cam PFO OIC-Chief Arlyn Z. Bael said Waminal, a Cabuan, Guinsiliban resident, started his career as a TUPAD Coordinator, November 3, 2020 up to the present, with a salary of P20,000 per month.

Waminal said he can now afford to pay the monthly mortgage of his motorcycle and put-up an additional capital for his broiler chicken production with a carrying capacity of 1,000 heads.

Moreover, Waminal now also earns an average net income of PhP 20,000 per cycle from the said business.

Also, business income defrays his family’s basic needs like food, electricity, medication of his parents, and supports the education of his cousin.

“Dako akong pasalamat sa DOLE family kay tungod sa akong salary naka-loan ko para additional capital sa akong business. Gawas pa ana, daghan ko ug experiences and skills learnings nakuha like technical writing and community engagements,” Waminal said.

(I am very thankful to the DOLE family because I was able to avail the salary loan that I can use as additional capital for my business. Aside from that, I also gained experience and skills learning like technical writing and community engagements)

Bael encouraged the business endeavors of Waminal, as a model to other potential business aspirants like him.

TUPAD is under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP). A TUPAD coordinator assists in the profiling and encoding of list of beneficiaries; assists in the conduct of field visits/monitoring; coordinates with local government units and other stakeholders on program implementations; assists in the pay-out to the beneficiaries; and assists in the preparation of liquidation reports.
