What help can your 20 pesos give?

For some, twenty pesos may mean a one-way tricycle fare, a snack chips, a carbonated drink or even an ice cream cone.

But for the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), your 20 pesos will go along way in helping the sick, those in need and those stricken by disasters and calamities.

How? 

PCSO Vice-Chairperson and General Manager Royina Marzan Garma said you can place your bets in all lottery products of PCSO for as low as 20 pesos.

Garma said PCSO is a government-owned and controlled corporation which is working hard to do business to generate funds for the Filipinos.

Under the  PCSO charter, it is required to pay taxes. Some  42 percent of its revenue is given back to the government in the form of taxes. At the end of the year, it remits  dividend taxes to the  Bureau of Treasury. Just last year, PCSO remitted P2 billion in dividend taxes to the government. 

Fifty percent (50%) of PCSOs charity fund is also given to the Universal Health Care program under the Philippine Health Insurance, Corp. and a big chunk also goes to the Malasakit Center which caters to indigent and even non-indigent patients.

“I bet not everyone knows that  everytime you access help from PhilHealth, you have also accessed PCSO funds. Every time you get  financial assistance from the Malasakit Centers in your areas, you have accessed PCSO funds which helps in achieving a zero balance billing,” the PCSO general manager explained.

Garma said she is  thankful to all the bettors because if no one would place bets, PCSO would not have funds for all the assistance needed by people.

“Sa beinte pesos mong taya, may chance ka nang manalo, nakapagbigay ka pa ng assistance at nakatulong ka pa sa nation building. Ganoon kalawak ang mararating ng 20 pesos mo,” Garma disclosed. 

As an expression of gratitude to Pangasinan which accepts and patronises products of PCSO, Garma personally handed-over  P5.8-M worth of food packs, medicines and medical devices during her visit to the province which were received by Governor Amado  Espino III and League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Pangasinan chapter President Leopoldo N. Bataoil during  the ceremonial turn-over of the donation at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Gymnasium.

“Kami po ay nagpapasalamat dahil ‘yung pagtangkilik natin sa PCSO ay binabalik din nila sa ating mga kababayan at ito po ay nakikita natin tulad ngayon,” Espino  stated.
