When we want to achieve a high-quality recorded audio, the very first place that we think to do it best   is in closed spaces    to eliminate all the unwanted noises.

In the province   of Abra  during the strict enforcement of lockdowns due to  COVID19 cases, teachers of the Bucay North Elementary School (BNES) thought of ways  to continue delivering quality education among the learners with the suspension of physical classes.

They decided to record their audio lessons but where? Creative and resourceful as they are, they thought of utilizing the comfort room (CR).

After achieving clear recorded audio files, they started producing their instructional materials recorded in   the CR, that was eventually transformed   into a recording room called “Raniag Banyo Studio.”   

Now, the Raniag Banyo Studio made Bucay North Elementary School known among other public schools for its high-quality learning audio-visual materials. Unlike other schools, they produce their own instructional materials which are  timely for distance learning amidst the COVID19 pandemic.

BNES Principal Mary Hazel Ballena shared  that  while others felt that the pandemic made them ill, fearful, and depressed, she realized the better side of it when the Banyo-Studio was born.

“It’s true that the pandemic really made us creative and innovative. It brought out the best in us when we are out of options. That’s the time when this recording studio was established,” she  said .

Ballena explained that its name ‘Raniag’ which is an Iluko word of ‘bright’ manifests a message of a brighter future ahead for everyone.   

She recalled  how they  had to go through a lot of challenges  when they were starting the project   with the  very limited resources.
 
“We also needed to be resourceful in order to utilize what have. Thankfully, we are able to put this up despite of a limited funds,” she said.

Indeed, Raniag Banyo Studio is   a CR-type of structure as it has a lavatory and a toilet bowl.  Now, its walls and ceilings are covered with egg-trays to maximize sound-proofing. It is equipped with air conditioner to proper ventilation. It also has a separate audio-room which is intended for audio recording only.

The studio has also a green screen which enables teachers to produce their videos in different backgrounds.

 
In behalf of BNES, Ballena   thanked their stakeholders and partners for their donations and support which made the establishment of their ‘ Banyo Studio’ possible.

 
“Malaki ang pasasalamat naming sa mga stakeholders naming na tumulong at nagdonate. Truly, we would not have this (studio) which is for the welfare of our learners,” she stated.

 
BNES Information and Communication Technology coordinator Sheryl Solante said that they maximized their efforts so that students are able to learn  with the  modular method of learning.

 
 Ballena assured to maintain the studio  even as physical classes are being gradually restored. She   plans to train their students to use the studio themselves to enhance their communication skills. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
