The top 3 cities with the highest magnitude of poor in the National Capital Region (NCR) are Manila (26,699 households), Caloocan (19,489 households), and Quezon City (18,380 households). And did you know that 48.85% or 352, 200 of the identified poor in NCR are WOMEN while 51.15% or 368,719 are MEN.
These are some of the data released by the Department of Social Welfare and Development - NCR (DSWD-NCR), together with the DSWD – National Household Targeting Office during the launch of the Listahanan 3 database in NCR last December 15, 2022.
Listahanan is a nationwide information system for identifying who and where poor households are, which can be used by various public and private agencies and organizations to target beneficiaries for social protection programs. It also gives a face to the poor, vulnerable and marginalized.
A HOUSEHOLD is a social unit composed of a single person living alone or a group of people who sleep in the same housing unit and share a common arrangement for food preparation and consumption.
Following the nationwide launch last November 23, 2022, the regional launch of Listahanan 3 in NCR seeks to formally share the updated database with national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs) and other social protection providers.
The Listahanan 3 also serves as a basis to ensure that the country's resources will be given to those who need government assistance.
According to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program - NCR (4Ps-NCR) Chair Leah Bautista, the Listahanan is highly important to their program because it identifies and determines the poorest of the poor and the targeted areas. The data captured are real families who have survived and will eventually graduate, becoming self-sufficient households as they exit the program.
