MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)--Famous across the municipalities of Calamba and Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, Cristy Pasalubong Food Products, owned by Cristina ‘Cristy’ D. Fuentes, is a business that started from an ‘inun-unan’ (stewed fish) recipe made by her father, Teofilo Descallar.

Locals nicknamed him ‘Nono’ from its inverted word, ‘on-on’.

Later, when they found out that the bottled inun-unan was not available in Luzon and Visayas, Ms. Cristy and her husband decided to borrow P10,000 from the First Community Cooperative (FICCO) to formally start their own business in 2016.

They flourished in 2020, when Cristy joined and graduated from the Kapatid Mentor Me (KMME-MME) online batch.

From their humble beginnings, through perseverance and assistance from various government agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Cristy Pasalubong Food Products has already produced 19 products, ranging from bottled fish products to spreads and banana chips, available and distributed nationwide.
