TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) -- With the continued increase of the number of Covid-19 cases in Tacloban City and other parts of the Eastern Visayas region, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez reminded anew for the strict observance of mandatory health protocols as prescribed by the Inyer-Agency Task Force on Covid-19.
Relative to this, the Mayor enjoined the public to avoid crowded places, refrain from going out of the house and of the city if not necessary. He also encouraged the people to avoid coming to the city if there are no important transactions
According to Romualdez, hospitals in the city are now in full capacity, and he does not want anyone to be deprived of medical services when needed, especially that Tacloban is the regional capital of Eastern Visayas where most of the health facilities are located.
The city official also ordered for a more strict implementation of health protocols especially in business establishments, and likewise mandated the monitoring of the wearing of face masks and face shields of people roaming around the city, on top of the additional number of isolation centers the city has designated, and the suspension of operations of KTV bars, beer houses and night clubs.
Meanwhile, Mayor Romualdez belied rumors that there are no enough vaccines for the city. According to him, Tacloban City has sufficient vaccines, and they are just refining the system for an efficient and fast implementation of the mass vaccination.
“We have enough vaccine for the city, We are just refining the system for a fast and orderly inoculation,” the Mayor said.
At present, the city continues its vaccine rollout for priority groups A2 and A3 of the different barangays in Tacloban, which are being done at the Robinsons Mall in the city. During the said activities, the city mayor has always shown his presence to personally monitor and ensure that said vaccination program is well-implemented. (LDL/GTT/PIA-8/Leyte)
