Orientation on safety seal certification conducted

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)--The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) through the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (LGMEU) recently oriented the members of the Provincial Management Coordinating Committee (PMCC) on Safety Seal Certification Program.

The Safety Seal program is an inter-agency effort of the DILG, Department of Health (DOH), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Tourism (DOT), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) which grants establishments a Safety Seal to be conspicuously displayed indicating that the building or establishment as an assurance to those who are entering the establishments are strictly adhering to health protocols against COVID-19.

Among the PPMC members who participated in the orientation through zoom applications are the Office of the Provincial Administrator, Quirino PPO, Bureau of Fire Protection and Bureau of jail Management & Penology.

Provincial Director Salvacion Baccay said  DILG and the LGUs as  among the issuing authorities of the Safety Seal are slated to inspect all public buildings, markets, and commercial establishments to check their compliance to Minimum Public Health Standards (MPHS) and use of StaySafe.ph application,” Baccay announced.

Furthermore, Baccay said they have started the inspection of the Provincial Capitol and Municipal Halls including their facilities and buildings, Police Camps and Stations, BFP Offices and Fire Stations, Provincial/District/Municipal Jails, Barangay Halls and their facilities and other public establishments.

“The members of the DILG Inspection and Certification Teams are the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers as team leader and Chiefs of Police and Fire Marshals as members.

The LGUs, on the other hand, shall inspect malls, wet markets, retail stores, restaurants outside hotels and resorts, fast food stores, eateries, coffee shops, banks, money changers, pawnshops, remittance centers, car wash, laundry service centers, art galleries, libraries, museums, zoo, sports centers, tutorial, testing, and review centers, gyms, spas, cinemas, arcades and all other private establishments located within the province.


The LGU Inspection and Certification Teams are the Local Business and Permits and Licensing Officers as Chairperson and Local Health Officers, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers and Local Public Information Officers as members.

Inspected establishments who have complied with the criteria set shall be issued with the Safety Seal which shall be valid for six months from the date of issuance and may be renewed not earlier than one month before its expiration subject to continued compliance with the eligibility requirements.
