QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Quezon City Government continues with its vaccination rollout for essential workers who adhere to regular working hours via its "Bakuna Nights" or nighttime vaccination program.
In an interview during her ocular visit on Monday, June 5 at the Quezon City Hall, Mayor Joy Belmonte said some 20,000 economic frontline workers in the city have already been inoculated under the program since its launch last June 16.
This indicates how many among the labor force are being forestalled of opportunity to get vaccinated especially the "no work-no pay" personnel, Mayor Joy said.
Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque, COVID-19 Testing Czar Secretary Vince Dizon, and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III, who joined Belmonte in the visit, all welcomed this beneficial initiative for the considered "mobilizers" of the Philippine economy.
Those inoculated during the event were generally "QCitizen" from the fast food chain industry and merchandising enterprise.
Meanwhile, Mayor Belmonte has also announced that the Quezon City Government is eyeing to launch a 24-hour vaccination schedule on top of the additional nighttime vaccination site in the Novaliches area, regarded as a manufacturing hub, once the supply of the COVID-19 vaccines stabilizes.
As of July 6, Quezon City has already administered a total of 901, 839 inoculations of which 663, 828 or 39.05% are first dose while the remaining 238, 011 or 14% are second dose.
The current figures are out of the 1.7-million jab target of the city in order to achieve population protection from COVID-19. (PIA-NCR with reports from OJT Janna Pineda)
