MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA)--Responding to the threats of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19, the Local Government of Mambajao allocated P32 million from its 20% Development Fund and Bayanihan Grant to cover the equipment, facilities, contact tracing requirements, and other COVID-19-related expenses.
Of the said budget, about P10 million was allocated for the purchase of necessary testing kits, personal protective equipment (PPEs), laboratory reagents, medicines, vitamins and disinfectants.
The local government also had P13 million spent on relief goods for affected families and individuals while close to P3 million was appropriated for various logistical support like transportation, food and temporary housing for our frontliners.
The mayor added that they have apportioned about P5 million for the construction, rehabilitation of existing buildings and rental of spaces as municipal and barangay isolation units. About P1 million was used for other essential COVID-19-related response expenses.
"Today, we have a 100-bed capacity as municipal isolation units with our municipal warehouse owning 40% in capacity. Ardent Hot Spring is being used solely for positive patients. On the barangay level, we have a 187-bed capacity with Poblacion accepting about 17% capacity considering its inherent large population," Romualdo said.
The LGU was also able to facilitate the testing of 11,632 individuals for both rapid antibody and rapid antigen testing.
In strengthening the town's capacity to contain the virus, LGU Mambajao has registered 40,330 individuals in the Clean Camiguin QR Code System.
Also, about 4,183 people have received their first jab and 1,024 have fully completed their doses and this makes up 11% of Mambajao's population.
Some areas in the town such as Barangay Poblacion have also been placed under localized lockdown noting the local transmission taking place in Mambajao.
Romualdo also issued Executive Order No. 15, July 5, to reactivate the use of Quarantine Pass to access goods and services within the town center.
As of July 6, Mambajao has 204 total COVID-19 cases, 84 active cases, 34 new cases, 118 recovered patients and 2 deaths. (RTP/PIA-10)
