SAN FERNANDO CITY, July 14 (PIA) -- A total of 123,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine arrived at the Ilocos Center for Health and Development here on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Medical Officer IV Rheuel C. Bobis, these doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be used as second dose for those who had already been jabbed with their first shot of the same brand on the previous months.
“Yung AstraZeneca ay gagamitin natin bilang pangalawang dose ng mga nauna na ng nabigyan ng nasabing bakuna,” Bobis said.
The AstraZeneca vaccine is a brand that requires two doses with four to 12 weeks of interval between its first and second dose.
With the arrival of this bulk of doses, Bobis assures that the regional vaccine storage facility has enough space.
“Kasyang-kasya po ang mga bakunang ito sa ating cold storage hub dahil ang isang vial naman po ay naglalaman na ng 10 doses” he explained.
Further, this 15th batch of delivery also include 15,000 more doses of Sputnik V which is allocated for the first dose of more individuals in the A1 to A4 priority population.
The doses of AstraZeneca were placed in the cold room inside the premises of DOH CHD-1 while the vials of Sputnik V were stored in another regional storage facility located at Sevilla village here.
Meanwhile, the region was able to receive a total of four sets of deliveries of vaccine on the first two weeks of July.
“With the advent of more stable supply of vaccine in the country, inaaasahan natin na mas maraming darating pang mga bakuna dito sa ating rehiyon,” Bobis said. (JCR/CGC, PIA La Union)
