PARAÑAQUE CITY, (PIA) -- Taguig LGU clears that the Taguig-bound OFW with the COVID-19 Delta variant was detected as early as May during the OFW’s required quarantine upon his arrival in the country.  

According to an announcement made on the city’s official Facebook page, the patient was never able to set foot in Taguig when he was still infected with the virus, as he was quarantined until he recovered.  

"We continue to remain vigilant and implement the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate strategy against all COVID-19 variants to ensure the continued protection of Taguigeños," said City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance head Dr. Jun Sy. 

In preparation for the Delta variant, the Taguig Safe City Task Force formed Special Task Group Delta Force to prepare for the possibility of local transmission of the said variant in the community. 

To date, none of those who have been genome sampled was found to have the Delta variant.
