Capiz gets 30,000 Janssen shots

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – A total of 30,000 eligible Capiceños in the priority list for COVID-19 vaccination will benefit from Johnson & Johnson’s  Janssen vaccine that arrived, July 20, in the province.

“We are very thankful to the national government for the vaccines,” Governor Esteban Evan B. Contreras said in a media interview after the arrival of the 30,000 J & J shots at the Roxas City Airport.

The J&J vaccine is a single – dose shot that aims to protect the vaccinees against COVID-19.

He added that the provincial government will again request for more jabs especially that the province is capable of storing even those brands of vaccines that require ultra-low temperature.

Based on the Provincial Health Office data, a total of 110,908 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were already received by the province from the national government as of July 20.

These are composed of 58,908 doses of Sinovac, 19,660 doses AstraZeneca, 2,340 doses Pfizer and 30,000 doses of Janssen.

About eight percent of the 544,670 eligible population for vaccination in the province has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and four percent from among them are already fully vaccinated as of July 20.

The vaccination in the province kicked off March 10 or two days after Capiz received its first-ever COVID-19 shots from the Department of Health – 6. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
