Treñas: Community kitchens serve more Ilonggo families

ILOILO CITY  (PIA) – Iloilo City mayor Jerry Treñas said that the revival of the Uswag Community Kitchens has benefitted more Ilonggo families amid the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) status in this city.

“As the Iloilo City Government revived the operations of our USWAG Community Kitchen, we are continuously serving the Ilonggo families who are greatly affected by the implementation of the ECQ,” he said.

Treñas said the Iloilo City Social and Development Office has identified 135 barangays out of the 180, with big population that need immediate food assistance.

“The barangay councils, feeding program workers, daycare workers, and many volunteers are working relentlessly in serving our fellow Ilonggos,” he said.

He said these individuals cook the meals and distribute them to each household in their respective barangays.

“I am very thankful to our generous donors for sustaining the needs of our kitchen every day,” he added. (JBG/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
