NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) -- Members of a Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) in this municipality encouraged listeners of a PIA radio program to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Barangay Sto. Niño BHERT members Roselle Borrinaga, Treasurer; Salvacion Carmen, Barangay Health Worker; and Salita Ibanez, a senior citizen BHW, shared their experiences from start to end of their vaccination journey during the PIA Biliran’s “Pulong-Pulong ng Bayan” interview over Radyo Natin - Naval on July 23.

Borrinaga shared how her fear to be vaccinated with the Covid-19 vaccine was replaced with strength for safety of the members of her family as well as her everyday dealings with clients at the Barangay Hall.

She said that she campaigned not only for her parents and other family members to be inoculated but for the residents as well in the barangay including clients and acquaintances.

For Carmen, she said aside from encouraging her family members to be inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine, she also do the same for the residents of the barangay under her area of responsibility through a house-to-house approach.

She added that through the house-to-house campaign, residents learn more about the vaccination program and were convinced to get vaccinated.

For her part, Ibanez said that she also encouraged the barangay residents in her age group considered to be vulnerable to Covid-19 infection aside from those who have co-morbidities.

She added that through her initiative, many members of the senior citizens in the barangay have submitted themselves for vaccination for their first dose, while others are waiting for their second dose.

The appearance of members of BHERT in the 4th radio program episode called “Bakunaserye sa PIA” devoted for the month of July is aimed to encourage more Biliranons to support the Covid-19 vaccination program of the government and have themselves vaccinated. (LDL/RSV/PIA-8/Biliran)
