SUBIC FREEPORT ZONE (PIA) -- About 458 employees of NIDEC Subic Philippines Corporation and other essential workers inside Subic Bay Freeport Zone have begun receiving their COVID-19 vaccine shots today.

In his message during the Ceremonial Vaccination for A4 Workers, NIDEC President Kiyoshi Sato thanked the government for allotting for their employees.

"Due to the support we received from Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Department of Health (DOH), and Philippine government we are able to provide vaccines to you all today, free of charge," Sato said.

Likewise, Zambales Vice Governor Jay Khonghun expressed his gratitude to DOH and the National Task Force Against COVID-19 for this initiative.

For her part, SBMA Chairperson and Administrator Wilma Eisma said Subic airport employees will likewise receive their jabs.

"As you know we have been receiving repatriation flights, that's why we will also be prioritizing our employees in the airport who are handling and having face to face interaction with the Overseas Filipino Workers,” she said.

"Hopefully in due time we will finish vaccinating the 158,000 workers employees in Subic Bay Freeport through this A4 vaccination," she furthered. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
