Region 1 administers over 500K doses of COVID-19 jabs

SAN FERNANDO CITY, July 28 (PIA) – – Region 1 has breached the half a million mark of administered doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines, an official from the Department of Health Ilocos Center for Health Development (DOH CHD-1) said.

During the 10th episode of 'The Virtual Presser' program on Tuesday, Medical Officer IV Rheuel C. Bobis, also the COVID-19 focal person of the regional health department, said that as of 8 a.m. on July 27, a total of 513,302 doses of vaccines have been administered to Priority Groups A1 to A4.

“We are happy to announce that we have accomplished a milestone pagdating sa pagbabakuna dito sa Region 1. So today, we have just breached the 500,000-mark ng number of doses na naibakuna na sa region,” Bobis told the Philippine Information Agency.

Majority of those inoculated were 183,225 medical frontliners and their immediate family members and Overseas Filipino Workers.

Further, 210,304 senior citizens; 103,498 people with comorbidities; and 16,175 economic frontliners have been vaccinated.

Of these numbers, 358,587 individuals received their first dose while 154,615 are now fully vaccinated after having received two doses of COVID-19 jab.

Tutok A2 Program

Ilocos Region targets 95 percent of the 547,788 elderly people to be vaccinated, however, the accomplishment is still at 210,304.

To increase the number of immunized senior citizens, Bobis said the DOH implements the Tutok A2 program.

The COVID-19 spokesperson reiterated that any COVID-19 vaccine provides protection against severe to critical infection.

Bobis informed that the DOH is eyeing house-to-house inoculation for the vulnerable and high-risk senior citizens to ramp up vaccination under the A2 Priority Group.

While Bobis encouraged the public to be part of the growing number of vaccinated individuals, he also reminded the public to adhere to the ‘BIDA Solusyon Plus sa COVID-19’ which aims to instill among them proactive measures in the fight against the pandemic. (JCR/VHS/JPD, PIA La Union)
