DAVAO DEL NORTE, 26 July (PIA) - Dr. Arnel Florendo, the City Health Officer of Tagum City, confirmed that the first case of Delta variant in the city has fully recovered. He also emphasized that the possibility of having more Delta variant cases will not automatically render the city in strict lockdown.
Guesting during the “Usapang Pangkalusugan” Program of the Department of Health (DOH) XI, Dr. Florendo clearly stated that after the Delta variant case achieved full immunization, the patient’s full recovery followed.
The individual is a frontline worker who was first swabbed on June 17, 2021, after exposure to another positive patient. After being suspected of having another variant of COVID 19 other than the Alpha and Beta variants, the individual underwent another swab test.
The results showed that the patient was positive of the Delta variant with mild symptoms and was almost asymptomatic. Contact tracing was done instantly.
The Delta variant patient has declared 5 persons for the close contact tracing. They all turned out to be negative from any COVID-19 variant.
Also, places included in the patient’s travel history are his/her boarding house and work. The Tagum City IATF is still looking for hints of the possible places where the patient was infected.
Dr. Florendo said with the possible presence of other COVID-19 Delta variant cases in the city, extensive and thorough analysis with the IATF Tagum City will be exhausted first before putting the city in strict lockdown. (Ezri Coda, PIA XI Davao del Norte/jmda)
