PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan (PIA) -- An additional five new hospitals and six Molecular Diagnostics Laboratories are expected to open this year until the second quarter of 2022.
According to the information shared by the Provincial Information Office, the construction of the New Northern Palawan Provincial Hospital (New NPPH) in Taytay, Española District Hospital, and Cuyo District Hospital continues. They are projected to open in September 2021.
Araceli-Dumaran District Hospital is expected to open in October 2021 and Balabac District Hospital in January 2022.
The Palawan Provincial Government is awaiting the License to Operate of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (MDL) in Brgy. Irawan while construction of other MDLs continues in the municipalities of El Nido, Coron, San Vicente, New NPPH in Taytay, and the Southern Palawan Provincial Hospital (SPPH) in Brooke's Point.
Currently, there are already ten hospitals serving the people of Palawan: the Aborlan Medicare Hospital, Narra Municipal Hospital, Southern Palawan Provincial Hospital (SPPH) in Brooke's Point town, Roxas Medicare Hospital, Dr. Jose Rizal District Hospital, Coron District Hospital, Bataraza District Hospital, San Vicente District Hospital, El Nido Community Hospital, and Quezon Medicare Hospital.
Those hospitals are jointly funded by the Palawan Provincial Government and the Department of Health (DOH) under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program. (OCJ/PIA-Mimaropa, Palawan)
