CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - At least 700 bamboo propagules and 300 kupang seedlings were planted by Cauayan City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), police, city hall employees and barangay residents in Cauayan City.
Engr. Alejo Lamsen, City Environment and Natural Resources Officer, said the bamboo propagule planting is part of the city government's celebration of the 2021 National Disaster Resilience Month.
He said the city government’s disaster risk reduction and management office has identified four barangays here namely, Crabatan Grande, San Luis, Turayong and Alicaocao as flood-prone areas needing bamboo seedlings.
Alejo acknowledged the province’s Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) for providing the bamboo propagules and kupang seedlings.
He said there were also 85 beneficiaries of the cash-for-work program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) residing in the four barangays who joined the bamboo planting.
The CENRO official has called on the barangay leaders in the four barangays to take good care of the planted bamboo propagules and kupang trees in the communities. (BME/MGE/PIA Isabela)
