QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya - - The seedling nursery of the FCF Minerals Corporation in barangay Runruno here is open for interested community sectors who want to join the national government's call for multi-sectoral tree planting activities.
"We can provide free seedlings to private and non-government organizations in support of their tree planting activities. They can get their free tree seedlings from our nursery," said Alexis Lapresca, the mine firm's rehabilitation officer.
He said their one hectare nursery which can accomodate 200-300,000 tree seedlings of various species has been distributing materials for various reforestation activities inside and outrside barangay Runruno.
Lapresca said their nursery also serves as a source for the implementation of their four reforestation programs such as the Mining Forest Program(MFP), National Greening Program(NGP), Mine Rehabilitation Program and the newly - established bamboo seedling bed.
"Within six months time, we have already produced more than 5,000 bamboo seedlings in compliance with DENR Sec. Roy Cimatu's order for all mining companies to establish their own bamboo seedling beds," he said.
Lapresca said they have also planted more than 3 million endemic, indigenous and fruit bearing tree seedlings in various plantations that were established through their four reforestation programs since 2007.
He said their nursery managed and maintained to provide tree seedlings for their internal and external tree planting activities by various sectors of the province. (BME/PIANVIzcaya)
