NCRPO gets new disaster response equipment

PASIG CITY, (PIA) -- The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has acquired P1.2 million-worth of search and rescue equipment to boost its operations during emergencies.

In a statement on Tuesday, NCRPO chief, Major General Vicente Danao Jr., said the disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) equipment have been turned over to its Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) on Monday, Aug. 16.

These equipment are in response to the current shortage of instruments needed to meet the needs of our personnel in conducting search and rescue operations in Metro Manila),” Danao said.

The equipment includes structural collapsed rescue tools equipment and accessories (SCRTEAS) which consists of a rotary rescue saw set, DCA demolition hammer, and high angle rescue tools equipment and accessories (HARTEAS) as well as 10 oval carabiners, Alloy (Auto-pause, Orange), 10 D-Shaped carabiners and twin pulley Prusik Minding.

Danao also reminded RMFB troops to handle the equipment with care.

We have many experts and trained personnel in this field but their service is hindered by the lack of equipment. It’s an honor to be instrumental in finally addressing these shortcomings towards a better offering of the right service: honest, courageous and caring for the people),” Danao added.

Under the Metro Manila DRRM plan, the NCRPO is one of the agencies involved in the management of the dead and missing during times of disasters and calamities. (NCRPO/PIA-NCR)
