CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – The provincial government, through the provincial Agriculture Office (PAgO), recently provided aid to the 254 identified fisherfolk beneficiaries from the town of Baco.
Gov. Humerlito A. Dolor led the distribution of P207,000 cash assistance to 69 identified beneficiaries, where each one of them received P3,000.
According to the governor, such aid is part of the recovery and rehabilitation plan of the local government to help fisherfolks during this time of pandemic.
Likewise, 12 fisherfolks received motorized boats, while one received non-motorized boat. At least 120 fisherfolks received fishing paraphernalia like hook and line and 52 members of the Bantay Dagat received their uniforms for operations as well as flashlights and megaphones.
The distribution of materials and financial aid is part of the 2021 recovery and rehabilitation program and interventions of the provincial government to fisherfolk beneficiaries.
Prior to this activity, the provincial government has already distributed cash assistance, organic fertilizers and other fishing paraphernalia to farmers and fisherfolks in the town of Socorro and Naujan.
Moreover, other municipalities will also be personally visited by the local chief executive to distribute the same assistance intended for farmers and fisherfolks of the province. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
