RSC 6 lauds 32nd NSM winners

ILOILO CITY (PIA) - - Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) 6 chairperson and National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) 6 director Meylene Rosales cited the creativity of people in Western Visayas amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic as she lauded the winners of the various contests launched for the celebration of the 32nd National Statistics Month in Western Visayas.

“I congratulate all the winners of the contests. I have seen the various entries that are all well-designed and conceptualized. Nakakatuwa tingnan. I would say that not even coronavirus disease can curtail the creativity of the Filipinos especially the people of Western Visayas,” said Rosales during the virtual closing and awarding ceremony for the month long celebration in the region.

She thanked the various steering committees who went beyond their regular assignments to make everything happen. Despite the pandemic, all the planned activities were carried out with flying colors and all activities were highly participated in not only by the statistical community but by all sectors across the region.

For this year’s celebration, the RSC 6 has conducted five contests aimed at raising the consciousness and appreciation of the public on the importance of statistics.

The contests include Statistical Infomercial Contest,  Statistical Infogra-

phics Contest, Photography Contest, Essay Writing Contest for College Students, and E-Poster Making Contest for High School Students.

For the Statistical Infomercial Contest, the winners are: Department of Tourism (DOT) 6, first place; Department of Science and Technology 6, second place; and Commission on Higher Education 6 (CHED 6), third place. Special awards were also given such as Most Reacted entry and Most Viewed entry won by CHED 6.

The Philippines Statistics Authority 6 bagged first place in the Statistical Infographics Contest while Department of Health 6 came in second and Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, third place. The infographics of the Iloilo Science and Technology-University was the most reacted entry submitted.

Rem Gio Trevalles won first place in the Photography Contest. Other winners in this contest are Ray Tabafunda of DOT 6, second place, and Ivan Jay Procalla of St. Therese MTC Colleges-Tigbauan, third place, and whose photo was the most reacted.

Emmanuel John Araneta from UP Visayas was named first placer in the Essay Writing Contest  while Marrione Micah De la Pena and Mitzi Coleen Rufin, both from the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas, were second placer and third placer, respectively.

Winners for the E-Poster Making contest for High School students  are: Julaiamaigne De Pili of ISAT Lab School, first place; Kristyl Ubial of Sito-San Juan National High School, second place; and Alexa Rose Agustino of Villacin National High School, third place. The entry of Jann Webb Marie D. Estimar got the most reactions.

The Philippine Statistical Association, Inc (PSAI) Region 6 Chapter was adjudged as the Best 32nd National Statistics Month Agency. All winners received cash prizes and certificates of recognition. (JBG/laf/PIA6-Iloilo)
