LARENA, Siquijor, Nov. 10 (PIA) -- At least 3,642 families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic recently received family food packs (FFP) through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) in coordination with the local government unit (LGU) of Larena.
In a press release, Larena LGU thanked DSWD-7 for its swift action in granting Mayor Dean Villa's request for 3,642 Family Food Packs (FFPs) to help families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in 23 barangays of the said town.
“In just a short amount of time, DSWD Region 7 was able to provide us the number of FFPs needed as relief augmentation support for our fellow Larenians, which were distributed starting Nov. 4 to Nov. 6 in coordination with our MSWDO, Sangguniang Bayan, and Larena barangay officials,” Villa said.
Each FFP contains six kilos of rice, four pieces of canned meat, two pieces of canned sardines, four pieces of canned tuna, five sachets of instant coffee, and six sachets of Energen drink.
Larena Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Rosalie Balongag assured that other families who have not yet received the FFP will be included in the second tranche of beneficiaries.
"Dili ta magpili ug hatagan kung COVID positive ba or home quarantined nga pamilya. Tanan pamilya atong hatagan kay tanang pamilya ang naapektuhan. Mukaon man ta tanan. (We will not be picky whether they are COVID positive or home quarantine-affected families. All families will be provided because all families are affected. Everyone needs food)," she added.
