Establishments, employers can still require face shields-IATF

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Establishments and employers can still require their customers and workers to wear face shields in areas under Alert Levels 1 to 3.

In a virtual press briefing on Friday, Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles stated that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved Resolution 149 yesterday clarifying the rules on the use of face shields.

As stated in IATF Resolution 149, the voluntary use of face shields for areas under Alert Levels 1 to 3 is ‘without prejudice to employers still requiring their use for their employees or workers and/or customers in their respective premises’.

“Kaya puwede pong i-require ng mga employers ang mga empleyado nila mag-face shield sa kanilang workplaces at puwede rin i-require ng private establishments ang mga customers nila na mag-face shield, that is within their discretion,” Nograles added.

On Monday, November 15, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the IATF to lift the mandatory use of face shields in areas under Alert Level 1 to 3. (JLB/PIA-IDPD)
