CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the release of P1.5 billion for the compensation of healthcare workers infected with COVID-19 while they are at work.

This was announced by Committee on Health Chairman Senator Christopher “Bong” Go over the weekend.

Go said the fund also includes meals, accommodation and transportation benefits of more than 423,000

Healthcare workers who have not received the said allowance from September 15 to December 19, 2020.

Go said this is a demonstration of the gratitude of the government and the entire country to our healthcare workers.

The senator stressed that it is important to give health workers the benefits they should receive as leaders in the fight against pandemic. (PIA-NCR)
