DENR Chief reintroduces mandates to PENRO, CENROs in Abra

DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu meets and motivates the staff of PENRO and CENRO to further imrove their services during his visit in Abra. (CAGT - PIA CAR, Abra)


BANGUED, Abra (PIA) --Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy A. Cimatu continues to visit the regions and provinces of the country to reinforce efforts and address issues on the ground, and to ensure that Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs) are performing well.
 
In his visit to the province on Dec. 16, Cimatu re-introduced the importance of ensuring the implementation of environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and the Solid Waste Management Act which are the prime obligations of PENROs and Community ENROs towards a better environment for the Abrenians.
 
He also recognized the efforts of the PENRO and CENRO staff as the frontliners in the successful implementation of the agency’s programs and projects.
 
“You are very important part of the process because you are our frontliners on ground and we are thankful for your efforts and dedication,” he said.
 
Cimatu challenged the PENRO and CENROs of Abra to further improve their services and performance most especially in achieving the mission of their office.
 
He shared the successful rehabilitation of Boracay and the Manila Bay as a remarkable accomplishment of DENR with the help of other agencies.

The Secretary was warmly welcomed by PENRO Abra staff headed by PENR Officer Engr. Marcelo Bumidang and the two CENROs of Lagangilang and Bangued. He was accompanied by DENR-Cordillera Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo and DENR-CAR Mines and Geo-science Bureau Director Faye Apil. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
