PASIG CITY, (PIA) -- The government has set a massive vaccination day for senior citizen on Thursday, January 6, 2022, to provide protection for the elderly against COVID-19.
The vaccination drive, that is being ramped up by the Department of Health Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD), is targeting especially those vulnerable to COVID-19.
According to the health department, the objective of the campaign is to identify remaining unvaccinated A2 population and to encourage all senior citizens in the National Capital Region to receive their COVID-19 vaccination, especially in the rise of various COVID-19 variants.
The DOH-MMCHD targets a total of 52,796 senior citizens in Metro Manila who are still unvaccinated.
The event is set to be launched at the Kalayaan Elementary School in Caloocan City.
Senior citizens are encouraged to have themselves vaccinated and boosted in their respective local government units (LGUs).
Earlier, Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles also appealed to senior citizens to get vaccinated and protect themselves from the COVID-19.
Nograles then presented that an estimated 1.5 million citizens nationwide remain unvaccinated. (PIA-NCR)
