LIMAY, Bataan (PIA) -- A total of 174 sacks of solid wastes were collected during the coastal clean-up of Bataan Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in the northern part of Corregidor Island.
Collected wastes included plastic bottles, Styrofoam, worn out shoes and slippers, and food wrappers.
PENR Officer Raul Mamac said this activity is part of Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ commitment to rehabilitate Manila Bay.
“Although Corregidor Island is already a part of Cavite City in Region IV-A, we at PENRO Bataan commit to continuing this kind of activity to protect and preserve the beauty and history of Corregidor,” he furthered.
Mamac said PENRO Bataan committed to help PENRO Cavite in collecting the accumulated solid wastes along coastal areas of Corregidor and looks forward to the partnership between the provinces in this kind of activities.
“We hope that all our efforts in coastal clean-up activities will be a lesson to the people to properly dispose their trash and soon our coastal areas will be garbage-free,” he said.
The activity was done in partnership with Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Marines, and Philippine Information Agency. (CLJD/CASB-PIA 3)
