COMELEC encourages use of envi-friendly campaign materials

BAGUIO CITY (PIA)--The Commission on Elections reiterates the call of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to use environment-friendly campaign materials.

COMELEC Baguio Election Officer Atty. Reyman Solbita said that materials to be used for campaign materials must not be destructive to the environment.

"Sa isang lugar kung ipinagbabawal ang plastic o cellophane, bawal ang streamer na plastic o cellphone na makakasira sa kanila. Gumamit ng recyclables at environment-friendly materials," Solbita said. 

He added that it is prohibited to post campaign materials to trees or plants, posts, or walls of a building or public structure. It is also prohibited to put campaign posters in public roads, plaza, parks, schools, or any public place.

Meanwhile, the allowed size of posters to be posted to common poster area is four by six feet or its equivalent but not exceeding a total area of 24 square feet. 

For pamphlets, leaflets, cards, decals, and stickers, the allowed size is 8 1/2" by 14". For posters made of cloth, paper, cardboard or any other material, whether framed or posted, size must be two feet by three feet.

Streamers to be displayed at the site and on the occasion of a public meeting or rally must be three feet by eight feet. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
