LAOAG CITY, Feb. 27 (PIA) – The Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) lead the multi-sectoral campaign for the conduct of safe, accurate, free, and fair elections (SAFE) this coming May at Camp Valentin S. Juan, this city.
Dubbed KASIMBAYANAN (Kawani, Simbahan, at Pamayanan), the ceremonial campaign launching was held on February 25, which also coincides with the commemoration of the People Power revolution.
The campaign aims to preserve and protect the essence of fairness and integrity in the upcoming national and local elections through the collective commitment of all sectors in the society, as well as interfaith prayers.
“Itong paglalakbay natin ngayon hanggang elections ay sana maitaguyod natin ang ating advocacy na isang ligtas, tapat, payapa, at malayang eleksyon,” said Atty. Joel Gines, Provincial Elections Supervisor of COMELEC in the province.
On the other hand, Col. Julius Suriben, Provincial Director of Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office, believes that the goal of the elections' campaign will be realized as all participants joined in the manifesto signing of the peace covenant which shows the solidarity of the participants for a transparent, peaceful, and honest electoral process.
Another highlight of the program is the lighting of candles and releasing of white doves as a symbol of hope and peace for the coming polls.
