DepEd, DOH to ease in-person classes protocols

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Health (DOH) will discuss the easing of protocols for the implementation of face-to-face classes as various areas shifted to Alert Level 1.

With more areas placed under Alert Level 1, Education Secretary Leonor Briones believed that the number of schools allowed to conduct in-person classes will increase.

During the President’s Talk to the People, Briones reported 1,726 qualified schools were conducting physical classes out of the 6,213 schools as of February.

“Ngayon, nagbilang na kami ng mga eskuwelahan na puwedeng magimplement na ng face-to-face na ready na talaga sila according to our standards”, Briones said.

The DepEd also aims to advance and strengthen the blended learning system to make the students digitally ready given the global technology development.

“Dito sa blended learning, halo ito, Mr. President. Nandiyan ‘yung online, nandiyan ‘yung paggamit ng mga modules, mga libro, TV, lahat-lahat na pamamaraan, depende sa sitwasyon, makikita natin kung ano ‘yung mga kulang sa mga bata, kulang sa mga eskuwelahan”, Briones added.

The Education Secretary clarified that the blended learning will depend on the capability of the schools.

Briones noted the Alert Level 1 will be aligned to the impending return to normalcy in the economy and society.

Schools in various areas, including the NCR, have resumed limited face-to-face classes in November 2021. (JAFD/PIA-IDPD)
