PGLU searches for the cleanest, safest, greenest LGU

SUDIPEN, La Union, Mar. 3 (PIA) –The Provincial Government of La Union officially begins the search for the cleanest, safest and greenest local government units in the province on Tuesday.


The provincial search committee composed of representatives from both the public and private sectors conducted the first site validation in this municipality.


Series of validations will be held wherein the next municipality or city to be visited will be randomly identified.


This assessment of LGUs will last until the second week of April before the evaluation team deliberates the results.


To be adjudged are the general cleanliness and the urban space greening of the LGU; their program and projects on clean and green, waste management, and other related policies and efforts; as well as enforcement of laws and practices to promote peace and order.


Also, bodies of waters are being evaluated of which physical condition and its support system are mainly included in the criteria.


A new category was postulated dubbed as the “Best Magsidalus Iti Arubayan” which will hail the best barangay implementer, both for urban and rural villages.

Winners are targeted to be announced by June in time with the celebration of the environment month.


Worth of projects awaits the winning LGUs and barangays.


Meanwhile, the CSG Program started some time in 2006 and is already institutionalized through Provincial Ordinance No.267-2020 passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.


According to Governor Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III, the search is a part of the provincial government’s drive towards a sustainable province geared with ecological integrity, and clean and healthy environment. (JCR/CGC, PIA Regional Office 1)
