QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – Believing in the importance of the politics in shaping the nation, the former Secretary of National Defense and National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales lays down his platforms and plans if elected as President.
In the Chatroom interview with PTV News Anchor Aljo Bendijo aired on March 29, Gonzales noted his priority agenda includes introducing a form of politics that will increase the love of the country among Filipinos and developing a constitutional reform that will help the country achieve “first world” status.
The former Defense Secretary plans to create more jobs, strengthen local industries, and aid the Filipinos who wanted to create their own business by providing capital with sovereign guarantee.
“Gagawa talaga ako ng napakalaking pondo para sa ibibigay na ‘capital’ sa lahat ng Pilipino na gustong maghanap buhay o gumawa ng hanap buhay. Para lahat magkaroon ng employment”, Gonzales said.
Recognizing the importance of education in improving the lives of Filipinos, Gonzales will focus on raising the quality of education. He will also implement a “standard education” that will abolish the gap between the quality of education being received by the “rich and poor” students.
Gonzales explained he will advocate for a charter change and adopt either a pure parliamentary or a presidential-parliamentary hybrid system of government to solve inequities and longstanding problems in the Philippines. If elected, he plans to amend the 1987 Constitution in start of his term.
The former Security Adviser emphasized that the government should work on rebutting the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front of the Philippines’ (CPP-NPA-NDF) ideology that the country’s systems could be changed through use of violence or armed struggle.
Gonzales strongly object the extrajudicial killings under President Duterte administration’s war on drugs. He assured those who surrendered to the government will be provided with the necessary support and proper jobs to help them start a new life.
If Gonzales wins the presidency, his first 100 days would be about boosting food for the people, raising funds to further develop the agriculture and generate more income for farmers during the crisis. He added that a stable food supply will mean improved health conditions for the population. (JAFD/PIA-IDPD)
