Eco-tourism facility inaugurated in Tumauini

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Region 2 (DENR-2), through the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB), led the inauguration of a P1.5 million eco-tourism facility in the town of Tumauini.

The Tumauini Watershed Natural Park (TWNP) is a legislated protected area under Republic Act 11038 or Expanded National Integrated Protected Area System Act.

According to DENR Region 2 director, Gwendolyn Bambalan, eco-tourism is a sustainable entrepreneurial business that sits within the said protected area.

The TWNP has picnic shed and ticket booth that were established at Magoli river and is funded by the Biodiversity Management Bureau of DENR.

Bambalan urged the town officials and residents around the eco-tourism site to plant trees and protect it to ensure the maintenance of the existing forests. (MGE/PIA Isabela)
