Capiz sets underwater clean up drive

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- An underwater clean up drive is being organized by the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO) and Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) for April 22 at the Napti Island in Panay town in time with the International Earth Day and as part of the Capiztahan 2022 celebration.

The celebration marks the 121st founding anniversary of the civil government of Capiz by virtue of Act No. 115 issued on April 15, 1901.

Dubbed “Sisid Basurero,” the activity calls for interested volunteers who meet the qualifications for the underwater activity.

The island has abundant live coral reefs near its shore, white sand beach line and a small cave that overlooks a breathtaking view of Roxas City and Panay town.

“Are you a licensed diver and want to put your skill into a good cause? Be a volunteer and dive with us for an underwater clean up,” said a CaPENRO online post.

Qualified to become “Sisid Basurero” volunteers are licensed open water scuba divers that have preferably at least 10 dives experience and complete diving gears.

Concerned diver must have a recent dive of not more than one year.

Interested and qualified applicants may register on the link, https://bit.ly/SisidBasureroRF , and or message the CaPENRO Facebook page for questions and clarifications. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
