QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The former Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella presents his self as a leader with integrity in his bid for the country’s highest post in the 2022 polls.
In the Chatroom interview with Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar aired on April 2, Abella said he’s a builder of institution and he has the capacity to start from the ground zero. He will reboot the gap between the poor and the rich if ever he wins in the 2022 elections.
As the former Undersecretary of the Department of Affairs (DFA), Abella wanted the participation of ordinary citizens in governance. Under his admiration, he assured the public that he will create a just, peaceful and joyful country.
Abella explained that an independent foreign policy essentially means being friends to all and enemies to none. Under this policy the main consideration will be the interests and welfare of the Filipino people and it will help the government to build internal structure that will boost the country’s economic activity.
In order to solve hunger and alleviate the suffering of 12.5 million Filipinos, Abella will be pushing to make the agriculture a mega-industry.
“Dapat tutukan talaga ang agrikultura, instead of ignoring, i-build up natin s’ya into a mega-industry. So that we can increase the revenue sa rural population, pati of course walang matutulog na gutom,” Abella said.
When asked about the education system, Abella emphasized the importance of strengthening the science and technology, engineering, and agriculture. He believed with these foundations, the government can yield competitive, productive, and job-ready students.
Abella briefly discussed his views on several issues such as, supporting the digital economy, investing on the cryptocurrency, addressing the COVID-19, reserving the country’s natural resources, implying values on same sex marriage and weighing complications of divorce.
To address the war on drugs of President Rodrigo Duterte, Abella expressed that he will continue to offer ways to combat illegal drugs while upholding human rights.
In ensuring a sustainable economic growth amid the unstable supply of oil globally, Abella encourage the Filipinos to work hand in hand with the government to develop more renewable energy. He also urged the public to place more value on environmental goods and to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
Abella stressed that he wont back out of presidential race, saying he has a vision for the country.
“The way I see it is I have a vision and I don’t think it is fair to the vision, and fair to the choice I have made if I just give it up for this because I don’t think the linchpin is these candidates,” Abella added. (JAFD/PIA-IDPD)
