BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - Upland villages in this province recently received various infrastructure projects worth P111.8 million in total from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Gwendolyn Bambalan, DENR Regional Director for Cagayan Valley, said that these projects, constructed under the DENR’s Forestland Management Project (FMP), are six irrigation pipeline systems in Barangays Nansiakan, Kayapa, and Carolotan in Dupax del Sur, Nantawakan in Kasibu, and Salingsingan in Ambaguio town; a pathway in Bit-nong, Dupax Del Norte; an access road in Palabotan, Dupax Del Sur; and two bridges in Canabay, Dupax Del Sur.
Other facilities include completed Agroforestry Support Facilities (ASF) for the towns of Ambaguio, Kayapa, Dupax Del Sur, Dupax Del Norte, and Kasibu, and those for various people’s organizations (POs).
Bambalan said that the infrastructure projects also intend to provide convenient access to the more than 5,000-hectare plantations established by the DENR and POs under the FMP.
The projects are also expected to facilitate economic activities, as farmers' produce will be easily transported from the farms to the markets. (JKC/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
