Solano District Jail's bet is Miss BJMP R02

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - Solano District Jail's officer Queena Riza Amor de Laza was named the 2022 Miss Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region 2 during the coronation night held at Robinsons Place in this city on Saturday, June 11.

De Laza wowed the judges and fans with her on-point answers and impressive performance to take the main crown at stake in the pageant.

In the final round of the contest, five finalists were each asked to choose one from the three core competencies of BJMP which they think is the most important. These competencies are: Makatao (Respect for Humanity), May Integridad (With Integrity), Matatag (Resiliency).

The Solano District Jail's candidate chose 'respect for humanity' as she believed that when one is respectful, it follows that one has integrity and is resilient is facing criticisms against their bureau.

"If I were to choose among the three core values of BJMP, it would be integrity. Why? Because integrity is something we do even if others do not see us. We do the right thing even if others are not watching us. So if we have integrity, we also have respect for humanity and at the same time we have all the values of a BJMP," De Laza said.

De Laza’s court includes the following:

1st runner-up: Rona Ma Rachel Gonzales (Regional Office)
2nd runner-up: Krista Kate Aquino (Lal-lo District Jail)
3rd runner-up: Maria Victoria Otom (Cabarroguis District Jail)
4th runner-up: Sarah Tagufa (Cabagan District Jail)

De laza has earned the right to represent the region in the national level in July this year where she will be competing against other 16 candidates.

On the other hand, BJMP Regional Director Jail Senior Superintendent Ma Annie Espinosa said that the conduct of the pageant is part of the celebration of the Community Relations Service Month 2022 of the bureau.

In her message, she urged the public to continuously support all the programs of the bureau to include the display of the various products at the mall's trade fair made by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) themselves. These projects, she added, are also available in all the bureau's district jails located across the region.

"Nagpapasalamat din ako sa Robinsons Place Tuguegarao dahil hindi kami pinagbayad sa  conduct ng trade fair. It's a big help kasi products ito ng mga PDL natin," she said.

(I also expressed my gratitude to Robinsons Place Tuguegarao because they did not ask us to pay for the conduct of our trade fair. It's a big help because the products displayed are made by our PDLs.) (MDCT/PIA Cagayan)
