President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19 in an antigen test, Malacañang said Friday.
In a press statement, Press Secretary Trixie Angeles said that the President was experiencing a "slight fever" but "otherwise is ok."
She said those who have been in close contact with the President are currently being informed by the Presidential Management Staff to observe their symptoms.
Despite his condition, Angeles said Marcos will virtually attend and give a message at the Leagues of Governors and Mayors meeting of officials tonight.
"This is part of the continuing campaign for series of vaccinations and two booster shots in preparation for the face to face opening of classes this school year."
The meeting was originally planned to have a dinner, but that meal has been removed to prevent officials from removing their masks, she added.
On the other hand, Angeles said the Vice President, the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government and Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergiere will be making presentations.
Representative Sandro Marcos has tested negative while the First Lady has not been exposed.
The President, meanwhile, encourages the public to get their vaccine series and boosters. (PIA-NCR)
