QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The National Museum of the Philippines announced that the National Museum of Anthropology in Manila will be temporarily closed to the public starting Monday, July 18, 2022.
The temporary closure is to give way to the preparations for the homecoming exhibition of “Magellan, Marilyn, Mickey, and Padre Damaso: 500 Years of Conquistador Rock Stars" by National Artist Kidlat Tahimik.
According to the National Museum, the exhibit was commissioned and shown in Spain at the historic Palacio de Cristal in Madrid by the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, this exhibition by the acclaimed filmmaker and visual artist succeeded in attracting almost 500,000 visitors between October 2021 and March 2022.
Several installations depicting the cultural struggles and aspirations of the Filipino people over the last 500 years feature larger-than-life sculptures, all showcasing Filipino craftsmanship.

Meanwhile, the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Natural History remain open for everyone to visit. Admission is free and walk-in visitors are accepted. (National Museum/PIA-NCR)
