LAOAG CITY, July 28 (PIA) – During his first State of the Nation Address delivered on July 25, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has committed the establishment of the Ilocos Norte Transportation Hub and other critical projects.
 
This is part of PBBM’s move to modernize the country’s transport facilities by streamlining road and transportation systems in key cities and provinces.
 
Moreover, Marcos deemed it necessary to continue improving road and transportation systems in the country.
 
Aside from the hub in Ilocos Norte, other key projects include establishment of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit, Davao High Priority Bus System, and the El Nido Transport Terminal.
 

Lawyer Nikki Pilar, administrative officer of the Metro Ilocos Norte Council (MINC), thanked the President for his support for the construction of the said transport hub, which is also cited as the first central terminal hub in the province.
 
“We’re very happy and excited to get the job done. Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, Sir Perry Martinez, MINC, and the Provincial Engineering Office have been working for this since late last year pa and now that publicly may show of support si PBBM, we look forward to start building the first central terminal hub in Ilocos Norte for a more organized transport system in the province,” said Pilar.
 
According to Pilar, it has already secured initial fund amounting to P380 million from the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Once completed, residents will benefit from the intermodal terminal and multi-level parking building that the transport hub features.
 
This will be built in Laoag City and is being eyed to serve the transport group, particularly the public utility drivers and operators of jeepneys, buses, taxis, vans, and tricycles.
 
Further, the hub promises a hassle-free commute for Ilokanos by providing interconnectivity, reducing congestion, and serving as a transfer point for passengers.
 
The provincial government hopes to secure funding for its other infrastructure projects under the new administration. (JCR/AMB/MJTAB, PIA Ilocos Norte)
