SAN FERNANDO CITY, July 29 (PIA) -- San Fernando City reports the damages incurred after the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that badly hit Abra on Wednesday.

As of July 28, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said 59 incidents were monitored in the city. Thirteen of which are damaged houses, five damaged roads, and 27 damaged buildings. A total of 14 incidents were also recorded wherein 22 individuals were hurt.

Minor wall cracks in city facilities were also reported by the General Services Office.

Meanwhile, road cracks and eroded slope protections were noted in Barangays Nagyubuyuban, Apaleng, and Camansi as well as wall cracks seen in some establishments and schools in the city.

The Department of Education also shared cracks on the footbridge going to the Sibuan-Otong Elementary School.

Moreover, the City Health Office reported zero casualties in the city.

The City Social Welfare Development Office immediately provided relief packs to families that were most affected. Each pack is composed of 10 kilos of rice and canned goods.

Julie Ann Hipona, CDRRMC head, said monitoring is continuously being done to assess the impact of the major earthquake and informed of its way forward after the strong earthquake.

“Napagkasunduan ng CDRRMC na magkakaroon ng madalas na earthquake drill, table top exercises, at iba pang mahahalagang estratehiya sa pagtugon sa epekto ng lindol,” she said. (JCR, JPD/PIA La Union)
