MANILA, (PIA) -- Johnson & Johnson will stop global sales of its popular talcum-based baby powder product starting next year, 2023.

Instead, they'll be pushing their cornstarch-based baby powder.

"As part of a worldwide portfolio assessment, we have made the commercial decision to transition to an all cornstarch-based baby powder portfolio," according to J&J.

J&J has stopped selling talcum-based baby powder in the U.S. for more than two years. after demand fell following a series of lawsuits against the product's safety.

Most of this is the claim that talcum products cause cancer because they are contaminated with the carcinogen asbestos.

However, J&J strongly denies the allegation and said that several decades of scientific testing and regulatory approvals prove that talcum is safe and that their product is asbestos-free. (PIA-NCR)
