Iligan kicks-off Diyandi Festival celebration

ILIGAN CITY (PIA) –  The city government here unveiled the calendar of activities for the month-long celebration of the Diyandi Festival. 

Mayor Frederick Siao  said he was impressed with the numerous activities and events lined up for the said celebration. 

“Nakita nako sa atoang calendar of events, one thing naimpress ko sa kadaghan sa mga events for this year. It shows that ang mga Iliganon excited kaayo,” he said.

(When I saw our calendar of events, one thing that impressed me was the number of events for this year. It shows that the people of Iligan are very excited.)

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Marianito  Alemania said Iliganons should not forget the essence of the celebration. 

“This is in honor of our patron saint, St. Michael the archangel, kay siya jud nanalipod nato sukad pa sa una sa tanang mga katalagman,  nga muabot sa Iligan,” he said.

(This is in honor of our patron saint, St. Michael the archangel, because he has been protecting us since disasters came to Iligan.)

A fireworks display was also held to welcome the celebration after more than two years since pandemic.
Some of the events highlighting the celebration include Iligan Music Festival, Reopening of Weekend Night Market, Search for Miss Iligan 2022, Mr. Diyandi King and Miss Gay, among others. (LELA/PIA-10-Lanao del Norte)
