NCCA unveils Santiago Syjuco Mural in Malabon

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –The National Commission for Culture and the Arts in partnership with Santiago Syjuco Memorial Integrated Secondary School launched on Monday (Sept. 12) the SSMISS Mural Project as part of NCCA's Arts in Public Space Program.

The unveiling ceremony was led by Mayor Jeanie Sandoval, Mr. Ricky Sandoval, former Congressman, Councilor Nadja Marie Vicencio, and Brgy. Captain Martin Claro; and NCCA's representatives, Ms. Susan C. Dayao, Chief Administrative Officer, and Mr. Edgar T. Fernandez, Project Consultant. Representing the SSMISS are OIC-Principal Leah C. Vidal and Mr. Earvin Sta. Ana, Project Coordinator.

Mural Art PH, the art collective that worked on the mural were also present and recognised during the ceremonies.

Mural Art PH is composed of artists Jerome Cuison, Charlie Sulayao, Dianne Bartonado, and KC De Guzman.

The project aims primarily to promote cultural and artistic awareness in the community through the wall mural paintings; engage the students, teachers and other stakeholders’ appreciation of the uniqueness of Malabon; and provide a platform that will showcase the art and creative expression of local artists.
