Police launch strengthened KASIMBAYANAN program in Ilocos

SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) – The strengthened KASIMBAYANAN program was successfully launched in the Police Regional Office 1  (PRO1) to reaffirm the strong collaboration between and among various sectors for sustaining peace and development in the community.

PLTCOL George Dipalog Jr., PRO1 spokesperson, said the KASIMBAYANAN, which stands for Kapulisan, Simbahan, and Pamayanan, was a pet project of Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. when he was then the PRO1 director.

“Now, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Azurin Jr. wanted to revitalize the KASIMBAYANAN program nationwide to boost the continuing peace and development in the community,” said Dipalog Jr.

The program aims to actively involve the community through the help of faith-based leaders (religious sector) in the peacekeeping process.

“Through this program, we will be having a lot of continuing community engagements, police-community relations, and inter-religious activities,” Dipalog added.

During the launching of the revitalized KASIMBAYANAN in Region 1 on Monday, Department of the Interior and Local Government-Regional Office 1 (DILG RO1) officer-in-charge Agnes De Leon graced the event with PRO1 regional director, PBGEN Belli Tamayo.

Also present during the event were  Most Rev. Daniel Presto, other religious leaders, members of the PNP Lingkod-Bayan Advocacy Support Groups, and the high-ranking police officials in the region.

The launching is highlighted with the awarding of medals to PNP personnel who have displayed utmost dedication to service through their heroic acts that saved lives and the signing of the Pledge of Commitment to KASIMBAYANAN.

“Taking a cue   from  the PNP’s   peace   and  order framework, the M+K+K=K framework  or  the Malasakit+Kaayusan+Kapayapaan equals Kaunlaran framework, we are endeavored   to  achieve   a   holistic  progress   in   our  region. Katuwang ng kapulisan ang simbahan at pamayanan sa pagkamit ng ating ninanais na kaunlaran carrying the PNP’s tagline:  Life  is   beautiful, kaligtasan  nyo, sagot  ko,   tulong-tulong tayo,” said Tamayo.

Tamayo said the KASIMBAYANAN program would induce a  God-fearing and  God-loving individuals in society because the roles of the church, religious leaders, local chief executives, and the community are recognized to be very vital in the quest for peace and development. (JCR/AMB/FGL/PIA Region 1)
