Pres. Marcos to keynote 2022 DENR Multi Stakeholder Forum

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos is set to deliver keynote message at the 2022 Department of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR) Multi Stakeholder Forum on Wednesday at the Grand Ballroom, Diamond Hotel, Manila.

The 3-day forum aims to identify each of the stakeholder’s unique and shared challenges, accelerate cooperation, and gather information on priorities for possible inclusion in the DENR’s policy agenda and multi-year Roadmap for Programs, Activities and Projects (PAP).

It also aims to share the knowledge and experiences on how different stakeholders can work together with the DENR and other national government agencies to craft and implement policies and programs towards climate and disaster resilience and sustainable development.

Further, it aims to foster and strengthen partnerships among stakeholders; coordinate each sector's initiatives on matters involving the environment, natural resources protection, development and conservation and identify multi-stakeholder initiatives and good practices that apply science, technology and innovation to achieve shared and unique values across different sectors.

Around 200 participants from the government, academe, development sector/non-government organizations (NGOs), and private sector are expected to attend the forum.

Relatively, President Marcos, in his recent speech at the U.N. General Assembly called for a “united effort” among the world’s nations to confront climate change and other challenges such as inequality and injustice.

The President touched on issues ranging from global warming to inequalities between rich and poor countries, as well as emerging technologies that are rapidly changing humanity.

“We are confronted by tectonic shifts that will inform the ebb and flow of the coming century,” Marcos said as he became the first Philippine leader in eight years to speak in person at the General Assembly Hall in New York.

“Climate change is the greatest threat affecting our nations and peoples. There is no other problem so global in nature that it requires a united effort, one led by the United Nations,” he said. (PIA-NCR)
