DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – Governor Ramon Guico III has ordered all the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils in Pangasinan to prepare for the possible threats of Tropical Storm (TS) “Paeng” and the upcoming observance of Undas to ensure the protection and safety of the residents.
In a memorandum signed by Guico on Thursday, he directed all Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils (LDRRMCs) and Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) chairpersons to conduct a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment or an emergency meeting and perform necessary preparedness and response activities.
He said that weather updates must be closely monitored and those high risk areas, landslide and flash flood prone areas, in preparation for the possible effects of TS “Paeng.”
“Consider pre-emptive evacuation based on the local chief executive’s assessment and monitoring, especially those families living in high risk areas,” he added.
Further, he advised to regularly monitor weather updates from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and other reliable and legitimate sources of information.
As of 2 p.m., the province of Pangasinan is under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1.
He also encouraged everyone to continuously monitor their areas of responsibility and be alert for any untoward incident regarding the observance of Undas. (JCR/AMB/PIA Pangasinan)
