CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council thru the National Gawad Kalasag (GK) Committee has announced that Quirino is among the 135 beyond compliant provinces in the 22nd Gawad Kalasag Seal for Excellence in DRRM Councils and Office category.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council will receive the GK Seal of Excellence during the regional awarding on November 24, 2022 in Tuguegarao City.

Office of the Civil Defense 2 Director Leon DG Rafael Jr in his letter to Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua said Quirino Province exceeded the standards for the establishment and functionality of the Local DRRM Council and Office as prescribed under Section 11 and 12 of RA 10121 thus, garnering an adjectival rating of Beyond Compliant.

PDRRM Officer Jesusa Leal said the province’s best practices, efficient utilization of LDRRM funds, absence of casualties during the past disasters contributed much in the attainment of the said recognition.

Meanwhile, Nagtipunan and Diffun were rated as fully compliant municipalities.

The Gawad KALASAG is a mandatory assessment for all Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (LDRRMOs) as they implement the provisions of Republic Act No. 10121 Sections 11 and 12, or the institutionalization of LDRRMOs or LDRRMCs, including the allocation and utilization of the Local DRRM Fund.
